The Green Back Yard team successfully delivered the batch of clean-burning rocket stoves to refugees in the Calais area of France.  The stoves, designed by Pyrois Tech  were part of a humanitarian relief effort organized byThe Green Back Yard which included  stoves, tents, bedding, clothes and food.  The Peterborough Telegraph Reports

Bob from Pyrois Tech said “It was a fantastic efford from all involved, we were so pleased to be able to make a difference for some of the people over there, however , there is still much to be done – and there is a need for many more stoves. We are currently organizing a new fund-raising campaign to supply another, larger batch of stoves wherever they are needed. Unfortunatley the refugee situation does not look to get resolved anytime soon.

The session was run as part of a crowd-funded  humanitarian relief appeal, organized by  Jay Gearing and Sophie Antonelli, members of The Green Backyard, a volunteer-run charity and community growing project based in Peterborough, England.   Each stove is capable of providing hot meals for 15 – 25 people. The materials for the stoves were purchased with the help of generous donations from members of the public and were  assembled by a team of volunteers.
